Description

The site flies when wind is from the south. The takeoff is mostly fed by thermal activity, and the wind is often weak. Therefore, some wind orientations from other directions can be tolerated if weak.
This is a mountain site, in spring and summer, thermals can be very strong.
In the valley, at the landing, the breeze can be really strong around mid-day and some thermal outbreaks occurs on final.
If you are too short an emergency landing is available, but not it is not maintained and not recommended.

Access

Drive up to the Tartavellu pass and follow the track to the antennas where you’ll find the most infrasctructured takeoff site in Corsica, maintained by local clubs and schools.
The Coccin’aile school and two-seater provider as well as local club Lucif’air often shuttle to the top, form the Mini Bar’s parking at the Vero’s road crossing from the main road.

General Description
Halfway between the sea and the highest peaks, Vero is a great cross-country flying site while still offering amazing local flights opportunities.
Flight Description

Zones of interest in flight:

Sides of the Punta Peccuraghja, place called Tavole on the map (called “pompe à couillon” by locals)

Petre Bianche on the slopes of Punta Sant’Eliseo (earlier in the day)

Ruins near Stupiella (later in the day)

Rocky slabs of Galitellu

On the slopes of the Punta Peccuraghja, on the maps, you can see a small nipple marked 733m. This is a good indicator of the strict minimal altitude to return to the landing safely. Also prefer a path near the ground, rather than a straight line to benefit thermals on your way.
