General Description

Le Chapeau (the hat) is named after the small hill at the heart of the site, next to the takeoff (Punta Capellu, literally hat mountain). It is a wonderful small site and if the conditions are right, you’ll enjoy flying there for hours in the laminar see breeze, with an amazing view on the gulf.

Flight Description

Take off and fly along the Hat. Adapt your course to the wind direction.
If the wind is from the north, you can transition and fly along the main ridge.
If you can, land back where you took off. Else land on the road below or in the small field next to the sea.

Airpace Specificities

Le Chapeau is situated under TMA Ajaccio 1 that starts at 2000ft/610m above surface or at 2500ft/762m above mean sea level.

In most case, when you are in dynamic soaring, you won’t be impacted. But if you manage to climb, keep that in mind. The site is situated straight in the path taken by the planes landing in Ajaccio, you wouldn’t want to mess with those birds.
If you transition, keep in mind the CTR that starts just south of the Pevani ridge.
